You can find your user profile by first clicking the arrow next to the users icon in the upper right corner and then 'My profile'.
In this block you can activate or deactivate multifactor authentication for this user.
To enhance the security of your Billit account, you can set up multi-factor authentication or two-step verification during login. This means you need to confirm your identity using a second device or communication channel, which means that it is indeed you who is attempting to log into your account. As a result, it is no longer sufficient for cybercriminals to only obtain your login credentials and password to hack your account, ensuring significantly better security for your account.
The Passwords app on macOS (Sonoma and newer) is Apple's built-in password manager. In addition to passwords, it can also generate time-based authentication codes (TOTP), similar to Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
Step 1: Open the Passwords app
Go to System Preferences → Passwords
(or open the “Passwords” app via Spotlight)
Step 2: Add the Billit secret key
In the Passwords app, find the account for which you want to set up two-step verification and click on it to open the account details. If the account does not yet exist, you can add it by clicking on the + symbol and creating a new password.
Then click on “Set up verification code” or “Add verification code” and select “Enter setup key.” Copy the secret key displayed by Billit under the QR code, paste it into the Passwords app, and confirm.
Step 3: Enter the code from your authenticator
The Passwords app will now automatically generate a six-digit code. This code refreshes every 30 seconds, is automatically filled in Safari, and can be copied for use in other browsers if necessary.
Enter this code in Billit and click on ‘Activate MFA’. Two-step verification is now activated.
When you now log in to Billit, after entering your login and password, you will also be asked for a verification code. You can find this code in the authenticator app you just installed under the 'Billit' item.
To prevent someone from easily disabling two-step verification, you will need to enter the code from your authenticator app again if you want to disable the two-step verification. To do this, go to the 'Settings' section, then click on 'Deactivate MFA'.
